Elon Musk, the serial entrepreneur & CEO of SpaceX, SolarCity and Tesla Motors is all set to unveil his electric car company's first budget friendly mid segment car, Tesla Model 3 on March 31, 2016.
Tesla Motors, a silicon valley electric car start up has already had huge success with its current electric car releases Tesla Model S and Tesla Model X. The 12 year old electric car company Tesla motors has so far offered 3 electric cars to the market - Tesla Roadster, Tesla Model S and Tesla Model X. Among these, Telsa Roadster, which was the first electric car produced ever by Tesla motors used Lotus Elis chassis but powered by the Tesla electric motors. This car, though a huge hit in the premium car segment had a limited produce before Tesla Motors decided to switch its focus on a complete in house electric car build - Tesla Model S.
While Tesla Motors has already produced 3 electric cars until now, all have been placed under premium segments. But with a vision of moving all transportation medium to electric, Elon Musk has been working on a mass producible budget friendly electric car for a while now. The result has been the design of Tesla Model 3.
Expected to be priced around $35,000 in the US, Tesla Model 3 is reported to go on full scale production and delivery by the end of 2017. With the unveiling of the Tesla Model 3 on March 31 to the general public, Tesla Motors will start taking pre-ordering from the same day. Interested buyers can pre-book the Tesla Model 3 from 31st March 2016 by depositing a cash amount of $1000 to Tesla Motors. And if the pre-booked user has a change of mind and decides to go for another Tesla models such as Tesla Model S or Tesla Model X during the waiting period, the money would immediately be transferred for this purchase instead.
