With Tesla Motors making a groundbreaking budgeted electric car Tesla Model 3 which was unveiled to the public by the Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk on March 31st 2016, the social media has been abuzz with activities and discussions pertaining to the Tesla Model 3 cars and its supported features.
While the Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk did not give out all the details regarding the features of Tesla Model 3 electric car during its unveiling, he did clarify a lot more questions through his Twitter handle @ElonMusk later. However, Elon Musk still has many more features which he will not be disclosing until Part 2 of the Tesla Model 3 unveiling which is scheduled to happen some time closer to the production of the Tesla Model 3 by the end of 2017, we did get some more information in his AMA on Twitter.
Among these, one of the most frequently asked question regarding Tesla Model 3 is its support for the Tesla Motor's much touted Auto Pilot feature. Auto Pilot feature enables Tesla Motors owners to get the Tesla vehicles drive by itself on the highways following lane discipline and keeping sufficient distance from the neighboring cars. AutoPilot also enables the Tesla cars to self park itself in the parking lots, thereby relieving the pressure of having to parallel park the car in a tight situation.
So, when the Tesla fans asked Telsa Motors CEO Elon Musk regarding the Autopilot feature support for the upcoming budget friendly electric car Telsa Model 3, Elon confirmed that every Tesla Model 3 will have all the safety features built in by default, however convenience features such as Autopilot will be an addon feature that the Model 3 owners can upgrade to at any point in time. In other words, every Tesla Model 3 car comes with all the required Autopilot related hardware built in, but the software required to operate these features will need to be separately enabled by subscribing to an upgrade option from Tesla Motors at an additional cost.
Considering that not all Tesla Model 3 owners will be interested in Autopilot feature if that would raise the cost of purchasing a Model 3, we agree that this kind of bundled subscription software upgrade feature to get hold of Autopilot for Tesla Model 3 is the best way to provide a win-win situation for both the company Tesla Motors as well as the Tesla fans and owners of the Tesla Model 3.
