So you have the 1st Generation Moto G aka XT1033/XT1031/XT1028/XT1045/XT1056 with you and now you are dabbling to figure out if this 1st Gen Moto G is compatible to run the Google Cardboard Virtual Reality (VR) headset. Below we will try to answer this question.

Google Cardboard is a low cost virtual reality headset that can be used alongside with your Android smartphones to experience Virtual Reality and 3D immersion Youtube videos. Google Cardboard is one of the cheapest, low cost and innovative Virtual Reality headset that has become the mainstream popularity mainly because of its price factor. You can purchase a Google Cardboard or its variants from several 3rd party Google Cardboard vendors for as low as $1.46.

However, Google Cardboard also has some of its own limitations when it comes to being compatible with Android smartphones or tablets. One of the main requirement of Google Cardboard is that it requires the Android smartphones to have a built in Gyroscope with it. Thus, the market needs to be filtered out while considering which Android smartphones or tablets do have Gyroscope in comparison to those that don't.

Moto G 1st Gen smartphone came out in 2013 unfortunately falls into the latter category i.e. the 1st Gen Moto G XT1033/XT1031/XT1028/XT1045/XT1056 smartphones do not have Gyroscope in them, thus rendering these Moto G smartphones incompatible with Google cardboard.

It has been reported that the Moto G 1st Gen users can still go ahead and use the Google Cardboard to watch a side by side 3D video using the Google Cardboard, however the support for any variant of Google Cardboard Virtual Reality Apps (VR Apps) for Moto G fails to exist!
