The app could not be downloaded due to an error 400 is a Google Play Store Error affecting Android smartphones. Another format of this error is something like this- Unknown error code during application install 400. This issue is caused when you try to update or download app on a slow internet connection (Mobile Data or Wi-Fi). So make sure you have a working internet connection. In my case, the error was resolved automatically on second try. How to Fix Installation-Update Error 400 in Google Play
Method 1: Cancel download and re-install
This is a simple method. Cancel the installation mid-way and then retry installation or update in Google Play.
Method 2: Disconnect and reconnect to a different network
The error is very frequent in slow networks so try to connect to a different Wi-Fi or use Mobile Data LTE/3G. After connecting to the new network try to install/update your app or game.
Method 3: Clear Data and Cache of download manager
(Note: If you have any important files in the Downloads folder, copy it to another location)
- Go to Settings >> Apps >> All >> Select "Download manager
- Clear Cache and Data
Method 4: Clear Proxy
- Go to Settings >> Wireless & networks >> More >> Mobile Networks >> Access Point Names (APN)
- Your mobile network's wap (networknamewap) must be selected by default >> Click it
- Select "Proxy" >> Clear/delete the address number
- Select "Port" >> Clear/delete the port number
- Now open Google Play and try to update or download the app that was giving the error
Method 5: Uninstalling Google Play Update
- Go to Settings >> Apps>>All >> Scroll down and Select "Google Play Store"
- Select "Uninstall Updates"
- Open Google Play Store and try to update or download the app(or game)
